Forgiveness
I forgive myself for all I have done.
I forgive myself for all I have not done.
Goodbye.
The weight of my life is lying on the ground,
dissolving in the rain.
Spring Flood
How does someone leave your life?
They never leave.
There are so many trails emblazoned in your heart
that cannot be covered over.
Every time the water floods, it runs down the same trails
and little birds flutter up to branches.
Shiny fish wiggle into rivers,
and the whole jungle comes to drink and bathe rejoicing in the spring flood.
It is the memory of you that awakens the spring in my being,
and being warm,
every emotion and dream come out of their hibernation,
and stretch and yawn and roll on the warm ground.
Beautiful, like the budding trees along the banks of the river,
colors find their way into every flower, frog, and bird,
and blood stirs and runs warm, and then hot,
until the day lights up and every creature sings, cackles, and roars.
Amidst the bright celebration,
distant thunder sounds, softly warning,
and all life is called back home,
away from a memory that had escaped, and flowered with its dream of spring.
The animals pause, lifting their heads from the water,
and dissolve into the cliffs, brown earth, and sky.
The rivers dry up, and the birds flutter back down,
The yellow sun cools and rolls off into the distance,
and the dream of the warm day closes it eyes,
as evening wraps it soft darkness over the world.
The old tree of my heart, reaches out into the night sky,
and little animals, wait on my branches,
like soft strokes of hope.
We are waiting for the light, for the heat of spring,
its beautiful flood, burning with song and color.
How does someone leave your life?
They never leave.
The flood of their spring upon your earth has marked you forever.
